What is Organisational Science & Design?
Organisational Science & Design is a body of knowledge and methods to understand organisations and ultimately to improve them.
A fundamentally people-based social science, OSD utilises scientific methods, empiricism, and data insofar as possible; recognising however that much is "unknown and/or unknowable".
An organisation is best understood (and improved) from an empathetic, people-centric perspective.
OSD looks at the constituent components of the organisation - the "anatomical elements" of people, culture, organisational structures, strategies, products, processes, systems and information. It also looks at the "physiological" aspects of how these elements interact between themselves, and the external world.
In other words - a holistic or "systems thinking" approach is key.
